When 90-year-old Norma Bauerschmidt was diagnosed with cancer just weeks after her beloved husband of 60 years suddenly died, she told her doctor “I’m 90 years old, I’m hitting the road.” And just like that, Driving Miss Norma's story began, ironically, with an end-of-life decision.

Norma now has the opportunity to slow down and enjoy the little pleasures in life, such as searching for seashells and other treasures on the beach, alongside her son and her poodle, Ringo.
With a long list of things to accomplish from her bucket list, Norma takes a moment to take in Grand Canyon with her dog, Ringo. Norma and her son and daughter-in-law, as well as her poodle Ringo, have hit up landmarks including Mount Rushmore, Yellowstone National Park, the Rocky Mountains, the Grand Canyon and Disney World.
Norma was approached by Hilton Head Island to appear as a guest of honor in their annual St. Patrick's Day parade, and she just couldn't refuse such an amazing experience.
Norma enjoyed an ice cold beer on a stop in Ormond Beach, Florida.
At an unforgettable stop at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, Norma joked around that this guy wanted to take her to Mars with him.
There's a first for everything, and in this photo Norma does her first 'fist bump' with a young man 83 years her junior.

It took Norma 90 years to get her very first pedicure. She told her son, sitting at left, "I'll do it if you do it, Tim."
Norma can't seem to decide which type of cake she'd like, so she goes for it and orders them all on a recent trip to Florida.
